Objectives
- Equip students with fundamental nursing skills: Provide training in basic nursing care, patient hygiene, vital signs monitoring, and infection control.
- Develop effective communication skills: Emphasize the importance of clear and empathetic communication with patients, their families, and healthcare team members.
- Ensure hands-on experience: Facilitate clinical rotations and practical exercises in simulated environments to enhance students’ confidence and competence.
- Prepare for certification: Assist students in preparing for the Certified Nursing Assistant examination, ensuring they meet the requirements for certification.
Structure & Duration
- The CNA program is designed to be completed in approximately 16 weeks, 8 weeks Theory and 8 weeks practical’s. It can be covered as one of the following modes:
- Face-to-Face Mode
This is through lectures and tutorials using notes, electronic presentations, instruction manuals, group discussions, practical laboratory demonstrations and fieldwork.
- Open, Distance Learning and e-Learning
In case of delivery through ODeL, special arrangements shall be made for the practical laboratory. Where not feasible alternative arrangements will be made to do them on campus.
- Blended Learning
This is a hybrid of face-to-face with Open, Distance Learning and e-learning.
- The course is covered in three components namely, lecture, hands-on skills labs, and supervised clinical experiences.
- Students will undergo continuous assessment by written assignments and/or class presentations.
- Each candidate is required to take all the course units and complete the skill lab practice and clinical components in order to graduate

Part 2: Skills Lab Practice
This component involves a hands-on learning approach to reinforce the theoretical knowledge gained in CNA classes. It focuses on honing essential skills through in-person exercises conducted within a controlled environment. Under the guidance of instructors and with the collaboration of fellow students, participants engage in tasks such as Activities of daily living (ADLs) as well as learning techniques for patient positioning and transferring. Additionally, Skills Lab Practice includes the application of fundamental clinical skills, such as measuring vital signs like blood pressure. This experiential training ensures that aspiring CNAs gain the necessary competence and confidence in performing crucial duties within a healthcare setting.
Part Three: Clinical
This component extends the hands-on experience gained in Theory and Skills Lab
Practice. Under supervision, students apply their knowledge in a recognized clinical
setting such as hospitals, nursing homes, etc. performing tasks such as personal
care, patient positioning, transferring, and vital sign measurements. This clinical
component enhances practical skills and prepares CNAs for actual workplace
scenarios.
Certification Preparation
In the final week of our CNA program, Steps Healthcare Training Institute focuses
on preparing students for the Certified Nursing Assistant examination, a crucial step
towards obtaining an internationally recognized certification. This week entails a
comprehensive review of course content, including theoretical concepts and
practical skills. Instructors conduct practice exams to familiarize students with the
exam format, providing insights into effective test-taking strategies and time
management.
Internationally Recognized Certification
Upon completion of the program, graduates are well-equipped to navigate the
certification process. The certification, recognized internationally, signifies a high
